WHAT IS RFID TAGS AND HOW DOES IT WORK
RFID tags are also known as Smart Labels or Radio Frequency Identification.
RFID Tags are being used universally to track almost everything; Vehicles, Animals, Patients, Pets, Inventory, Assets of all types and most importantly used by various Law Enforcement Agencies worldwide; Homeland security, Criminal Investigation etc.
RFID Tags are of different types; Active, Semi Active, Passive,
HOW DOES THEY WORK?
Data is stored in a microchip inside RFID tags- which can be read using a device
Active and semi passive tags use internal batteries to power their circuits, An Active tag also uses its battery to broadcast radio waves to reader, where as a semi passive tag relies on the reader to supply its power for broadcasting, because these tags contain more hardware than passive RFID tags they are more expensive. Active and Semi Passive tags are generally use to track expensive items as it read over greater distance- they broadcast high frequencies from 850-950 MHZ that can be read up to 30 meter or more distance , if you wish to read farther objects, simply put additional batteries that can boost its reading range.
